Position Description

Discover your next opportunity as a Vice President of Defense programs at Serco.  This role will provide an opportunity to develop valuable expertise in leadership and help the organization to meet its core business objectives.  You will lead a large team that works closely with various Department of Defense customers and other Serco teams to deliver quality services in support of our customer’s missions.  This is a high-profile role collaborating with other executives, overseeing multiple programs, and opportunity to apply your extensive background and experience for success. This position is a Hybrid Role based out of San Diego, CA or Charleston, SC or Herndon, VA reporting to the Vice President of the SI2 Business Unit.

 

In this role you will:

  • Manage strategic growth and a diverse DoD portfolio, responsible for P&L of over $150M annually with a worldwide staff of over 200 people.
  • Oversee Business Directors in the execution and completion of multiple complex U.S. Navy Modernization projects/programs, ensuring they meet the highest standards of schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Develop creative business solutions to meet customer requirements across diverse technologies, delivery, and pricing models.
  • Drive effective communication and issue resolution to maintain project timelines, financials and quality standards.
  • Drive high performance standards across the operation – develop great talent, and identify and implement programs for filling any gaps that may exist to drive growth.
  • Spearhead efforts to develop new business opportunities and expand existing customer services through exceptional project delivery, customer relationship management, and as pipeline expansion within the DoD Market
  • Responsible for growth within the portfolio.
  • Successfully manage change in an evolving business.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have: 

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, Project Management, or a related field, with a strong preference for candidates with PMP certification.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in project management within the defense sector, specifically focusing on U.S. Navy projects.
  • Proven ability to manage large, cross-functional teams in a technical and complex project environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively coordinating with a wide range of stakeholders, including DoD customers, and internal and external executive staff.
  • Strong leadership qualities with a track record of building and maintaining results-oriented teams.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Ability to travel up 10% to 25%.

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary for this role is $203,825.00 per year to $407,651.00 per year; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
