Position Description

Team Submarine’s Submarine Program Offices are responsible for:

The acquisition of the OHIO Class replacement and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the COLUMBIA Class. The COLUMBIA program is a major defense acquisition program with a total life cycle cost of approximately $336B and is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).

 

Team Submarine and the Ship Acquisition Program Management (SHAPM) directorate within Serco-North America (NA) work together for the acquisition of New Construction Submarines and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E), Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E), and Fleet introduction of the U.S. Navy’s newest class of nuclear attack submarines.

Internships will be across Team Submarine. Team Submarine is a combination of the Program Executive Officer, Submarines (PEO SUB), the Deputy Commander, Undersea Warfare (NAVSEA 07) and the Undersea Technology Officer (NAVSEA 073). The Team Submarine concept unifies once diverse submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.

PEO Submarine

 

  • COLUMBIA Class Program Office (PMS 397) - Is conducting the research and design for the next-generation Sea-Based Strategic Deterrence submarine (SSBN).
  • Submarine Acoustic Systems Program Office (PMS 401) - Develops and implements the Warfare System Modernization Plan that defines future upgrades, systems standards, and interface definitions for development of submarine warfare systems. Works with other Navy organizations and provides direction to coordinate development tasking at Navy Laboratories.
  • Undersea Weapons Program Office (PMS 404) - Oversees the research, development, construction, and modernization of all undersea weapons, including those employed aboard surface ships and aircraft.
  • Undersea Defensive Warfare Systems Program Office (PMS 415) - Conducts research, development, and construction of submarine defensive systems including noise makers and anti-torpedo torpedoes.
  • Submarine Combat and Weapons Control Program Office (PMS 425) - Develops and acquires the combat and weapons control systems for both in-service and new construction ships.
  • Submarine Electromagnetic Systems Program Office (PMS 435) - Designs, develops, and oversees the construction of Electronic Warfare Systems, periscopes, and the Photonics Mast.
  • VIRGINIA Class Program Office (PMS 450) - Oversees the design, construction, and delivery of the United States' newest attack submarine.
  • Maritime Surveillance Systems Program Office (PMS 485) - Provides a long-life fixed, and on demand, mobile maritime surveillance capability in littoral regions and open ocean areas of national interest in support of Joint and naval Task Force Commanders.
  • The SSN(X) Office is responsible for the acquisition and design of the future fast attack submarine and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the future submarine. The future Attack Submarine will be designed to retain multi-mission capability and sustained combat presence in denied waters with a focus on greater speed, stealth, and horizontal payloads and salvo rates.

You must be able to maintain/obtain a Secret clearance.

Serco-NA is seeking motivated supply chain, logistics, management, and business undergraduate students to prepare, coordinate, and integrate the identification, development, acquisition, and delivery of integrated logistics support requirements for systems or equipment assigned to one of the U.S. Navy submarine shipbuilding program offices in the Washington, DC area.

 

Major Duties/Experience:

  • Prepare, coordinate, and integrate the identification, development, acquisition and delivery of integrated logistics support requirements for systems or equipment assigned to the Center.
  • Provide input to and/or review planning documents such as Technical Data Plans, Operational Requirements, Advance Procurement Plans, etc., applicable to the system or equipment for assessing the ILS effort.
  • Prepare logistics requirements plan, ILS Plans, Operational and Interim Support Plans, etc., as required.
  • Assess all requirements necessary to coordinate ILS functions.
  • Prepare and/or coordinate the ILS portion of Invitations for Bid or Requests for Proposal and participate in the evaluation of contractors? bids or proposals.
  • Organize and chair the activity ILS Management Team and participate as a member of the cognizant System Command ILS Management Team.
  • Participate in system requirements and design reviews, configuration management board reviews, engineering analysis tests, inspections, and demonstrations, provisioning, and training plan meetings/conferences.
  • You will interface with a broad range of experts and stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Required/Preferred Experience:

  • The ability to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance is required.
  • At least one year in an accredited university’s supply chain, logistics, procurement, management, or business.
  • Sophomores, Juniors, and First Semester Seniors are preferred.
  • An interest in resource and product development of shipbuilding.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to use a variety of software products (e.g., MS Office).
  • Periodic travel 10% to vendor sites is expected.
  • Veteran experience in the military is a plus!

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $40,189.78 to $60,284.66; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
