Position Description

Serco-NA is actively seeking a motivated individual to provide Java development support to the United States Air Force Civil Engineering NexGen project. In this role, you will work with our dynamic NexGen team to analyze existing application solutions and develop code/processes for ongoing capability enhancements for the Air Force customer. You will play a critical role in ensuring the successful code development, integration and delivery/deployment actions to the Air Force CE community across more than 200 bases worldwide.

In this role, you will:

  • Design, develop, build and deploy application/interface solutions and delivery of the company’s core technologies
  • Support middleware components and applications
  • Analyze performance trends across all systems for new applications and platform upgrades
  • Deploy product updates as required while implementing integrations when they arise
  • Solve software engineering problems while delivering reliable, highly scalable, highly performing systems that Serco’s customers use on a daily basis
  • Develop and maintain Java modules of larger integrated solutions for Serco’s application platform and tools
  • Participate in daily standups, code reviews, task estimation, unit testing, continuous integration, and short bursts of delivery
  • Work with the software development team and other stakeholders to understand and capture project requirements
  • Improve, refine and refactor the code base using object-oriented design/development, debugging, unit testing, and continuous integration

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:   

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance and U.S. citizenship
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering, or related degree
  • 5 years of Experience Java/Java Script development and Web Services (SOAP and REST) and XML coding
  • Addtional Knowledge required in following 
    • Standard Java Development Tools such as Git, Gitlab, Maven or JBoss
    • Object design and development
    • Continuous integration
    • Unit Testing
    • Agile Methodology concepts
    • Experience with Java web applications
    • Struts/Spring-framework/Bouncy Castle
    • Experience refactoring code and updating libraries for an application
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) to deal effectively, comfortably and confidently with people at all levels of responsibilities, authority and rank
  • Have excellent interpersonal and administrative skills and demonstrate the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Up to 10% travel

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Knowledge of Air Force CE Community.
  • Experience working with federal government programs, particularly DoD

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $112,133.01 to $186,888.35; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
