You will be part of the 9th Air Force (9AF) United States Air Force Central Command (AFCENT), which is the Air Force Service Component of United States Central Command (USCENTCOM), a joint Department of Defense combatant command responsible for U.S. security interests in 27 nations that stretch from the Horn of Africa through the Persian Gulf region, into Central Asia. This position directly supports the 9 AF AFCENT Commander and their staff. 

 

In your role as the Cultural Advisor and Linguist in support of the 9 AF AFCENT Commander you will:

  • Advise and assist the commander and other Executive U.S. military and civilian personnel in their mission to develop professional and cultural relationships with foreign partners in the Command's area of responsibility.
  • Provide advice and guidance to the Commander and directors on how best to effectively interact with Qatari Ministries in the performance of their mission sets.
  • Use your fluency in Arabic to conduct and/or support written and oral communication with foreign partners in the region.  

 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI Clearance.
  • US Citizenship.
  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Fluency (written and oral) Arabic language.
  • Five years experience working in or with foreign nationals from countries located in the CENTCOM AOR (Middle East).
  • Three years supporting Component HQ Staff or higher.
  • Three years experience supporting senior/flag Military officers/Civilian equivalent.
  • The ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Proficiency in Turkish, Hebrew, and or Kurdish written or oral languages
