Position Description

Join Serco as a HERO Supervisor in Odessa, Texas!

 

Serco supports the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) by operating the free HERO patrol service program with the purpose of minimizing traffic congestion and improving highway safety by clearing damaged and disabled vehicles and debris from the travel and emergency Lanes, and providing traffic control and scene protection at incidents. 

 

You will be leading a team that works closely with TxDOT, local law enforcement and other first responders daily. 

 

As a HERO Supervisor, you can expect to:

 

  • Provide Traffic Incident Management services and implement Incident Command System protocols when appropriate
  • Lead co-workers and make sound decisions while working in a high-paced and high- pressure environment
  • Conduct HERO Operator incident audits developed by Vendor and approved by TxDOT
  • Assign traffic incidents among HERO Operators
  • Develop shift schedule; assign shift responsibilities
  • Assist with reviewing resumes, interviews, and make recommendations for hire/advancement to the HERO Project Manager
  • Assist in preparing SLA and KPI reports for inclusion in HERO report deliverables
  • Provide correspondence, reports, policy, and procedure recommendations, forms, presentations, training material, personnel management, and electronic communications
  • Report assigned vehicle maintenance/repair needs to the Project Manager.
  • Participate in HERO operations analysis, including measures of effectiveness, route designations, manning requirements, reporting criteria and methodology, and evaluation of traffic needs, trends, and response
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of Operations Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures/Guidelines
  • Lead response to severe incidents, to include coordination with partner agencies.
  • Evaluate, and counsel assigned HERO shift personnel
  • Be responsible for readiness of assigned shift personnel and equipment
  • Participate in Post Incident Analysis, as requested

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • Two years of SSP or equivalent experience within the past three years. Equivalent experience includes law enforcement, first responder, and other positions that provide TIM experience.
  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Proven ability to successfully lead a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • General working knowledge vehicle maintenance
  • Physically able to work in outdoor environment and lift/carry 50+ lbs.
  • Physically able to access the underside of a vehicle
  • Physically able to walk 300 yards unassisted
  • Ability to pass DOT medical evaluation.

 

This position is contingent upon your ability to pass a preemployment criminal history check and drug screen.
