Position Description

JOIN OUR TEAM as an OBTT Lead Facilitator to assist and prepare for further employment our Military Veterans by delivering workshops at locations across the United States and virtually. The Department of Labor (DOL) Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) program requires contractor services to support these veterans through the Off-Base Transition Training (OBTT) that is offered nationally to conduct job assistance workshops.

 

 

This position is remote, but requires up to 50% travel to Serco/Customer sites. 


In this role, you will: 

  • Teach and/or instruct Veterans on employment skills used to obtain to civilian employment.
  • Guide the Veterans in identifying goals while also assisting them with recognizing any employment or education gaps.
  • Organize and manage a team schedule.
  • Provide Veterans, including those currently serving in the Reserves and National Guard, and Veteran Spouses a comprehensive understanding of civilian employment, job searching, job application processes, networking, technical training opportunities, credentialing, and assistance in preparing for civilian employment and participation in technical programs and schools
  • Conduct small and large group instruction on the job search process.
  • Deliver standardized curriculum via in-person or virtual classrooms.
  • Ensure completion and submission of classroom reports.
  • Ensure all facilitators maintain training certifications and follow standardized curriculum.
  • Observe and mentor new facilitators during the delivery of standardized curriculum.
  • Validate weekly and quarterly schedule of facilitation assignments.
  • Proactively communicate concerns to stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate travel assignments and adhere to travel expense policies.
  • Report to a project manager and attend weekly meetings (virtually).
  • Upon emergent needs, be able to facilitate on short notice.

Additional information:  

  • Any facilitation assignment that is greater than 50 miles from Lead’s primary location, then, travel will be reimbursed.
  • Comprehensive training is provided and expected to be completed within the first month of employment.
  • Lead Facilitators are expected to respond to emergent facilitation assignments.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:     

  • A High School Diploma and 3 years of experience as a professional trainer, facilitator, and/or classroom instructor.
    • OR an Associate’s degree
  • Experience which demonstrates understanding of private and public sector employment processes. 
  • Must be knowledgeable of the workplace, jobs, and requirement for entry into those jobs.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to provide standardized training to groups with up to 50 participants.
  • Familiar with MS Windows and Office.
  • Effectively communicate with Military clients and Government representatives.
  • Comfortable instructing and speaking in front of a group, be observant of others, possess the ability to professionally engage with a diverse audience.
  • May require extended hours, including weekdays, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Must have excellent time management skills, able to work independently and follow directions.
  • Must respond to emergent facilitation assignments.
  • The ability to travel up to 50%.
