Serco supports the Navy as prime for their Amphibious Assault & Connectors program. Dually located in the heart of the Boston’s Seaport District and Pascagoula, MS, the Landing Craft Planning Yard (LCPY) team supports the Landing Craft Division in the maintenance of the Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC), the planning and maintenance of the new Ship to Shore Connector (SSC) and the configuration and engineering management of the new Landing Craft, Utility (LCU) 1700.

 

Our Naval Acquisition and Sustainment Operation, which is part of Serco's Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) business, provides critical services to nearly all U.S. Navy amphibious ships and craft. You will work closely with Government and industry professionals, shipbuilders, and other support personnel. You will be part of a 12-person Engineering team consisting of mechanical, electrical, and architectural engineers that works closely with the customer in delivering quality products and services to the fleet.

 

In this role you will:

  • Serve as the sole CAD Designer in the LCPY for the Landing Craft, Air Cushion (LCAC), the Ship to Shore Connector (SSC), and Landing Craft, Utility (LCU) 1700 programs.
  • Develop and revise installation and alteration drawings for the LCAC Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) and other ongoing availabilities, Craft Change Documents (CCDs), and Liaison Action Requests (LARs).
  • Develop new Ship’s Selected Record Drawings (SSRDs) for the LCU 1700 class.
  • Assist mechanical and electrical engineers in their review of technical documentation.
  • Develop standard templates and CAD processes for the engineering team.
  • Maintain a 3-D CAD (SolidWorks) model database for LCAC 100 (SSC).
  • Maintain workload and respond to tasking within the schedule and technical requirements identified in the Integrated Data Environment (IDE).
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 2-4 years of relevant work experience. Degree must be in CAD Design. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 8 years of relevant work experience. Work experience may be adjusted based on education, or highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.
  • You must be able to obtain and maintain an active DoD clearance upon employment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
  • 10% travel required.

Additional desired skills:

  • AutoCAD Professional Certification.
