As the Engineering Technician, you will work on a team performing IT systems modernization at DoD facilities Worldwide. This work involves installing server equipment racks, video surveillance (ip based) cameras, desktop computing systems and peripherals, cabling, and rack-mounted equipment at U.S. Army Installations Worldwide.

This position will allow you to live anywhere in the United States and travel the world. 

This position requires flexible working hours; you must be willing to work more than 40 hours a week and be able to work after normal duty hours depending on customer requirements. 

As the Engineer Technician, you will perform standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations. You will follow standard work methods on recurring assignments, but you will receive explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments. Your technical adequacy of routine work will be reviewed on completion and non-routine work may be reviewed in progress.

In this role you will perform at this level one or a combination of typical duties such as:

• Follow specific instructions, assemble, or construct simple or standard equipment or parts, service or repair simple instruments or equipment.
• Conduct a variety of tests using established methods, adjusting, and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors.
• Gather and maintain specified records of engineering data such as tests, drawings, etc., performing computations, plotting data, and verifying that test data meets acceptance criteria.
• Unpack and re-pack equipment for test and shipment to customer facilities.
• Extract engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources, processing the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry, and presenting the data in prescribed form.
• Perform the installation of CAT 6 cabling.
• Terminate CAT 6 using T568B color code standard.
• Other duties may be assigned.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A High School Diploma
• Must be able to obtain a favorable NACI
  • background investigation; including fingerprint checks
• Must be able to obtain a CAC (Common Access Card)
  • Must be able to obtain access to all military installations
• U.S Citizenship is required
  • this position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Serco to staff it only with U.S. Citizens.
• Must be willing to travel up to 90% of the time, up to 4 months at a time
  • Must be able to travel internationally
  • Must be able to obtain a valid U.S Passport within 30 days of employment
  • Must possess a valid drivers license 
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience pulling, dressing, and terminating using 568B standard
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience installing racks, cable conveyance, and all peripheral equipment
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience troubleshooting and resolving issues related to cables and networks
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience troubleshooting various appliance-level errors to resolution
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience collaborating with engineering team to provide solutions to technical problems
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience in conducting, testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and/or electronic systems
• Minimum 1 year of professional experience following and performing activities related to Preventative Maintenance of installed CCTV systems
• Able to work independently, meet schedule, and duty requirements
• Must be organized, with the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks
• Able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work in areas with drafts, noise, and temperature variation 
• Able to work during inclement weather or other adverse conditions 
• Able to work in high heat spaces, climb dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking
  • Able to perform work on ladders and lifts
• Able to lift up to 50lbs without assistance 
  • with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40lbs for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position 
• Able to work with power tools; drill, Sawzall, Rotozip saw, Dremel, ect. 

Additional desired experienced and skills:

• Active DoD Secret security clearance
• A current OSHA certification
• A current BISCI certification
• A current US passport
