Position Description

As the Production Technician, you will support a US Navy shipbuilding program office in Bath, ME by reviewing and monitoring production issues and changes to FFG 62 class ships for PMS 515 and SUPSHIP Bath.  Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense and safety of our sailors.

 

Serco provides support to the Shipbuilding Program Office and SUPSHIP Production Team to identify and resolve production issues and technical challenges for US Navy ships under construction.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Provide production support for the FFG 62 class to include the introduction, development and fielding of  Ship Design/Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, and Aviation Integration.
  • Provide assistance in the Government's monitoring and analyzing of the development the ship design with industry and assist in performing production evaluations by providing advice to the Government on risk areas, required changes, certification impacts, or other challenges.
  • Support the conduct of technical reviews, analyses, and evaluations of industry production plans.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), working groups, industry design meetings, and production reviews.
  • Review each Ship’s design drawings, engineering change notices, ship specifications, Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs), deliverables and verify equipment installations and drawings are in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Support the development of production plans and schedules to address production challenges as they emerge for baseline.
  • Assist in coordinating the resolution of discrepancies. Prepare technical assessments of Government responsible deficiencies that are documented during construction and through Builder's and Acceptance Trials. 
  • Assist in the Government's preparation of SOW and coordination of pricing and scheduling and monitoring the execution of Contractor Special Studies related to production engineering.
  • Support the review and validation of CDRL submittals and correspondence assigned to SUPSHIP Bath.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An Active or Current DOD Secret clearance.
  • US Citizenship
  • A High School Diploma/GED
    • Higher education such as a Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree will be considered in lieu of experience.
  • 4 years of experience (Experience supporting SUPSHIP Bath and the new construction of US Navy Ships highly preferred)
  • Experience in ship construction techniques and methods

  • Expertise with MS Excel, PowerPoint, and other office tools

  • Knowledge of engineering analysis techniques.

  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.
