Position Description

Serco is seeking a highly experienced Sr. Principal Military Trainer – Protection SME Scenario Writer to support the U.S. Army’s Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. This role focuses on the Protection warfighting function and contributes to the development of immersive and realistic scenarios that train Brigade, Division, and Corps Commanders and their staffs in simulation-based command post Warfighter Exercises (WFXs).

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the liaison between the Scenario Enterprise and MCTP Protection warfighting function Observer/Coach/Trainers (OC/Ts).
  • Create and manage scenario scripting focused on Protection functions including Military Police and Law Enforcement operations, Rule of Law, and Enemy Prisoner of War (EPW) procedures.
  • Develop law enforcement reports, questioning summaries, and scenario injects to enhance training realism and support intelligence collection.
  • Integrate Protection-related targeting scenarios involving IEDs and insurgent networks into exercise plans.
  • Collaborate with Protection enablers to ensure lower echelon injects align with unit training objectives and contribute to immersive background activity.
  • Monitor and evaluate Protection operations during exercises to inform AARs and performance feedback.
  • Provide 24-hour exercise support, including storyline injects and MSEL adjustments.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of leadership experience, or Master’s degree with 6 years of experience.
  • Ten years of U.S. military service as a Commissioned Officer in a Protection-related branch.
  • Previous experience as a Military Police Officer (31A).
  • Knowledge of EPW/Detainee operations and familiarity with current Army/Joint doctrine.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access).
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, CONUS and OCONUS.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Ability to work onsite at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Deep understanding of Protection warfighting tasks and their integration into large-scale combat operations.
  • Strong scenario writing, analysis, and exercise planning capabilities.
  • Experience providing realistic and doctrinally sound scenario inputs across multi-domain operations.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Combat deployment experience in OIF, OEF, OND, etc.
  • Battalion/Brigade or higher staff officer experience.
  • Completion of the U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course or MEL 4 ILE equivalent.
