Position Description

Serco is seeking a Principal Military Trainer – Storyline Scenario Writer to support the Mission Command Training Program (MCTP) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. This role is integral to designing and delivering immersive and realistic operational environments that support Warfighter Exercises (WFX) for Division and Corps-level units. This position plays a key role in enabling commanders and staff to train for large-scale combat operations across multiple domains.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to scenario design and development of the Operational Environment (OE) for MCTP-supported exercises.
  • Prepare comprehensive exercise storylines and Master Scenario Event List (MSEL) injects that meet training audience objectives.
  • Support and coordinate storyline execution during exercises across multiple exercise locations.
  • Participate in the Exercise Life Cycle (ELC), including weekly Exercise Working Group (EWG) meetings and major planning conferences (IPE and FPE).
  • Collaborate closely with the S35 Military Scenario Planner and Storyline Lead to ensure dynamic and accurate OE scripting.
  • Monitor storyline implementation during exercises and support real-time adjustments to meet training goals.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with 9 years of professional leadership experience; or
  • Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience; or
  • Master’s degree with 3 years of experience.
  • Familiarity with current Army/Joint doctrine.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access).
  • Ability to travel CONUS/OCONUS up to 25% of the time.
  • Must possess an active DoD Secret clearance.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong conceptual and writing skills for developing training scenarios.
  • Ability to coordinate with military planners and simulation personnel to deliver realistic training environments.
  • Capacity to support complex military training events and apply doctrinal knowledge effectively.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Graduate degree.
  • Completion of U.S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course or MEL 4 equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in design, planning, and conduct of large-scale simulation exercises.
  • Prior experience with computer-assisted simulation training.
