Position Description

 

Join Serco’s dynamic Joint Staff Support Team (JST) as a Principal Military Trainer – Scenario and Operational Environment Planner in Suffolk, Virginia. In this on-site role, you will contribute to the development and execution of military training exercises that shape the future of joint operations. We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of military planning and scenario design to help support Joint Staff J7 events and exercises.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Design and plan exercise scenarios in collaboration with training audience representatives, Desk Officers, and event planners
  • Deliver scenario products such as historical overviews, Road-to-Crisis (RTC), Operational Environment (OE) Overviews, and other evolving exercise materials throughout the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC)
  • Coordinate suspense dates and adjust them based on development progress
  • Provide instruction in Joint Master Scenario Event List (JMSEL) operations to Exercise Control Group members
  • Attend exercise planning conferences, In-Progress Reviews, and coordination meetings as needed

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or GED and a minimum of 10 years of professional and/or military leadership experience – OR –
  • A Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 6 years of professional and/or military leadership experience – OR –
  • A Master’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a commissioned officer, non-commissioned officer, or U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) civilian equivalent
  • An active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance
  • A valid U.S. Passport or the ability to obtain one
  • Willingness and ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS up to 25% of the time
  • Ability to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • At least 3 years of experience in the joint or service planning process
  • An active DoD TS/SCI security clearance
  • Working knowledge of JTIMS JMSEL and Legacy JMSEL
  • Prior Joint Staff J7 Exercise/Event experience
