Position Description

Serco is seeking a Games for Training (GFT) Trainer to join our team at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) Mission Training Complex (MTC) in Washington state. This is a dynamic opportunity to support Army collective training by leveraging advanced gaming technologies and simulation systems.

In this role, you will:

  • Use Army Games for Training (GFT) to conduct collective training exercises.
  • Ensure all software and hardware configurations for systems such as GFT, Warrior Skills Trainers (WST), and Shoothouse (TSS) operate reliably and effectively.
  • Apply comprehensive understanding and application of mission command training and industry standards.
  • Independently perform complex professional tasks and develop innovative solutions to solve technical and training challenges.
  • Provide consulting expertise to military and defense clients for training development and evaluation.
  • Represent the GFT team in daily operations and interact with senior internal and external partners.
  • Develop and deliver detailed presentations to stakeholders.
  • Run all systems within the facility independently and without supervision.
  • Create and develop training scenarios and products tailored to unit requirements and Commanders’ training intent.
  • Coach Soldiers in the effective use of gaming hardware for training purposes.
  • Act as the GFT system administrator and lead facilitator.
  • Become familiar with multiple simulation and tactical communication systems.
  • Utilize scripting in the Run Time Editor to modify simulation variables as required.
  • Brief leaders, visitors, and distinguished guests, showcasing system capabilities.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and correct simulation system issues.
  • Manage a database of add-ons for rapid system integration in support of unit training events.
  • Support additional training requirements within the Mission Training Center team.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 7 years of simulation training experience, or
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of simulation training experience, or
  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 1 year of simulation training experience.
  • Military leadership experience at the platoon level or higher.
  • Familiarity with the basic operation of Mission Command Information Systems (MCIS).
  • Knowledge of current military regulations, policies, and standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks, and interface with contractors, government, and military personnel.
  • Must be able to work on-site at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington.
  • Must be able to travel as needed (up to 10% of the time).
  • Must possess an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 pounds.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong technical and operational knowledge of GFT systems and mission command training methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Effective communication and instructional skills.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Combat Arms Senior Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) experience.
  • Current valid certifications in CompTIA Security+ and/or Network+.
