Position Description

 

Serco is seeking a Simulation Support Team (SST) Manager 1 to join our team supporting the Army National Guard (ARNG) Mission Command Training Support Program (MCTSP) at Camp Atterbury near Edinburgh, Indiana. The SST Manager will coordinate and oversee technical, networking, exercise design, and operational support for training environments.


In this role, you will:

  • Conduct overall management coordination for all technical, networking, exercise design, and operational support efforts.
  • Lead the technical team to:
    • Install, operate, integrate, and troubleshoot communications, applications, and configurations.
    • Establish network addresses and connections.
    • Monitor and analyze system performance.
    • Recommend and perform application maintenance and upgrades.
    • Conduct data backups and system recovery.
    • Install IAVA patches, security updates, and remediation actions during training exercises using JLCCTC suite.
  • Ensure each Mission Training Complex (MTC) can simultaneously conduct one large (multi-echelon) and one medium-scale (single-echelon) JLCCTC-supported exercise.
  • Coordinate Simulation Support Team (SST) support at the MTC or Training Unit Commander (TUC) point of need.
  • Lead Technical Support Team in providing simulation environments based on training units’ exercise planning documents.
  • Interpret planning documents to install and configure hardware, software, and networks.
  • Diagnose system errors and perform corrective actions; escalate unresolved issues appropriately.
  • Follow all applicable DoD Information Assurance protocols and maintain system STIGs, patches, and backups.
  • Maintain user accounts and provide subject matter expertise in system administration and military simulations.
  • Maintain proficiency in simulation software and hardware fielded to the Mission Training Complex.

Qualifications

  • One of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience with Military training and training support.
    • Master’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of experience with Military training and training support.
  • Experience in technical support and training requirements at Brigade or higher level.
  • Must have an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
  • Must have or be able to acquire IAT Level II Certification within 180 days of hire.
  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 25% of the time).
  • Ability to work on-site at Camp Atterbury near Edinburgh, Indiana.
  • Ability to support shifts outside standard working hours and weeks exceeding 40 hours during exercises.
  • Ability to move computer workstations and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong technical acumen in simulation systems and virtual architectures.
  • Independent decision-making skills that prevent program delays or excessive resource expenditure.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills related to system operation, error analysis, and corrective action.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Master’s degree in CS, IT, Cybersecurity, IA, or a related field.
  • Experience planning simulation architectures for LVC-integrated environments.
  • Federation Manager experience with HLA and DIS federations.
  • FA57 or CP36 training and experience.
  • Linux certifications (CompTIA Linux+, LFCS, or RHCSA).
  • Active IAT II certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE.
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate in Windows 10/Server 2012.
  • Experience configuring RedHat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • VMWare installation, configuration, and maintenance experience.
  • Experience mass-deploying Windows and Linux systems using government-provided tools.
