Position Description

Serco is seeking a Computer System Analyst – Terrain Designer to support the Mission Training Complex (MTC) at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Washington. This exciting position supports One World Terrain (OWT) and Virtual 3D (V3D) Map operations, providing technical and functional terrain data support to simulation and training events for Army operations.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and maintain operational standards and training for OWT map systems.
  • Manage OWT Map systems lifecycle processes, including hardware/software installation, patching, configuration, and optimization.
  • Analyze exercise requirements to adapt and implement tailored OWT or V3D Map system solutions.
  • Conduct systems integration testing with simulation databases and OWT software.
  • Utilize command-line scripts and build software routines to optimize repetitive technical tasks.
  • Perform system vulnerability and security scans and report findings to the appropriate teams.
  • Test and distribute OWT Map images for training exercises and maintain readiness of forward systems for deployment.
  • Deploy and operate OWT Map systems during Warfighter Exercise (WFX) events and provide in-field support.
  • Coordinate with rear-operations staff to report forward field issues and operational data for software improvements.

Qualifications

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A high school diploma or GED with at least 6 years of experience in JLCCTC and/or OWT Map operations, OR
  • A Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of such experience, OR
  • A Master’s degree.
  • A minimum of 3 years of Mission Command Staff experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience supporting MTC events or working with geospatial/3D terrain datasets.
  • Proficiency in GIS software such as ESRI ArcGIS, Blue Marble Global Mapper, and QGIS.
  • Familiarity with 2D/3D terrain development tools including ASTT, RUGUD, Terra Tools, or Terra Vista.
  • The ability to obtain CompTIA Security+ CE within 6 months of hire.
  • An active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.
  • Ability to work on-site at JBLM and travel up to 25%.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to integrate software and hardware systems to meet training requirements.
  • Experience developing terrain visualizations and simulations for large-scale military exercises.
  • Operational flexibility to support both rear and forward training environments.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux system engineering or administration experience.
  • Troubleshooting RHEL errors and software compatibility issues.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Security+, Network+, or CEH.
  • Experience with Army Mission Command systems including CPOF, CPCE, BCCS, and TSI V1/V2.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
