Position Description

 

Serco is seeking an experienced Fighter Pilot, Weapons Systems Officer (WSO), Combat Systems Officer (CSO), or Naval Flight Officer (NFO) to join our elite team at the Combat Air Forces Distributed Training Center (CAF DTC) at Langley AFB, VA. In this role, you will support the U.S. Air Force's ability to conduct integration training against modern threats within a dynamic virtual battlespace.

 

You will serve as a critical part of a team that delivers Large Force Exercises (LFEs) and Small Team Events using systems such as the Combat Environment Server (CES), Next Generation Threat System (NGTS), and Modern Air Combat Environment (MACE). This position supports planning, execution, and debriefing of events involving U.S. and allied aircrew, air battle managers, and JTACs.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Facilitate training by role-playing fighter aircraft in Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) events.
  • Learn and execute missions using CES, NGTS, and MACE simulation systems.
  • Stay current on threats, tactics, and procedures via AFTTPs, tactics manuals, and updates.
  • Lead scheduling, planning, briefing, and debriefing for DMO events.
  • Integrate unit training requirements into exercises based on feedback from planning conferences (e.g. RED FLAG).
  • Provide consulting support on doctrine, scenario design, and exercise execution.
  • Analyze data to support after action reviews and continual process improvement.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of relevant experience; OR a Master’s degree with 7 years of experience; OR a PhD with 4 years of experience.
  • Experience as a Pilot, WSO, CSO, or NFO in one or more of the following aircraft: F-15C, F-15E, F-16C, F/A-18, EA-18G, F-22, F-35.
  • Strong familiarity with AFTTP 3-1 or equivalent service manuals related to fighter/bomber employment.
  • Operationally relevant experience within the past 10 years (simulator experience acceptable).
  • An active U.S. DoD Secret clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI and SAP/SAR access.

  • Effective communication and leadership skills for coordinating across teams and ranks.
  • A mindset for simulation realism and training effectiveness in virtual environments.

 

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Mission Commander qualification.
  • Experience as an Instructor Pilot/WSO/CSO/NFO.
  • Knowledge of 5th-generation fighter tactics and integrated operations.
  • An active Top Secret clearance.
