Position Description

Serco is offering an opportunity with our Systems Integration and Installation (SI2) Business Unit for an experienced C4I systems integrator to lead a small team of experienced technicians in coordinating the integration and testing of a US Navy/MSC New Construction communications suite.  This system consists of portable tactical “green gear” configured for a shipboard environment. Ongoing work is conducted at the Serco Facility in North Charleston, SC, NIWC Charleston Integration and Test Facility, and on board T-ATS ships during construction on the US Gulf Coast. 

 

This position is contingent on your ability to maintain an Active Secret clearance.

 

Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for their NSC2I contract providing System of Systems integration and testing for surface ship new construction.  Our team procures, assembles, integrates and tests communication and network systems to ensure the safety of the sailors and to allow them to perform their missions successfully. This is a multi-year, multi-hull project involving mature drawings for a proven system.  

 

You will be part of a team of 3 technicians that works closely with the customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality systems. The team has been recognized by the Navy and the industry for their outstanding contributions to the contract and program. 

 

In this role, you will:

  • Leading a team of 3 technicians.
  • Provide daily coordination with team members and NIWC engineers to ensure successful integration and testing of system components to include but not limited to radios, amplifiers, encryption devices, GPS equipment, antennas, patch panels, and radio test sets. 
  • Ensure Quality standards are adhered to.
  • Load encryption devices.
  • Conduct system testing utilizing established test procedures.
  • Submit daily status updates.  
  • Troubleshoot interconnecting cables.
  • Travel between North Charleston Serco site and NWIC test facility.
  • Travel to Mobile Alabama for longer stints. (Up to 3 months)
  • Support NIWC Charleston in the fabrication, integration, and testing of C4ISR systems.
  • Support T-ATS class integration at our North Charleston facility, NIWC test facility, and on board the T-ATS class ships.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • An Active DOD Secret Clearance
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 10+ years of combined experience in the following areas:
    • Shipboard installation/integration experience
    • Experience in leading & instructing others in assigned tasks
    • Proficiency in cable management, cable fabrication, rack integration
    • Proficiency in interpreting drawings & blueprints
    • Operation of US Military Portable communications systems. (Harris equipment)
  • 4+ years' of leadership experience
  • Valid US issued Driver's License
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time as needed
    • Travel between North Charleston Serco Site and NWIC test facility.
    • Travel between North Charleston Serco Site and Austal Shipyard in Mobile Alabama. (Up to 3 months at a time based on Installation schedule)
  • Proficiency in operating MS Windows based computer programs

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Test procedures
  • Troubleshooting US Military communications systems (portable or shipboard)
  • Quality Control certification
  • NIWC experience
  • C4I experience
