Position Description

Are you an Sample Controller/Laboratory Ancillary Tasks Support Environmental Professional that can support the EPA’s Laboratory Services and Applied Science Division and you want to make an impact every day?

 

Join our Environmental Service Assistance Team to protect human health and the environment in a collaborative, dynamic setting in in Ft. Meade, MD

 

Serco supports the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) where every day is Earth Day. Our skilled scientists collaborate with EPA staff at their state-of-the-art Laboratory Services and Applied Science Division (LSASD) in Edison, NJ. Here you will be part of the Environmental Service Assistance Team helping EPA achieve their mission to protect human health and the environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Maintains order in sample storage locations
  • Keeps, cleans, and stores incoming coolers for future use
  • Receives supplies and distributes or stores as needed
  • Receives incoming sample deliveries from clients or couriers
  • Follow all Safety, Ethics and Quality practices
  • Maintain all required documentation with accuracy and clarity
  • Read, understand and perform all applicable laboratory SOPs as written
  • Log samples into Laboratory Information Data System (LIMS)

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • Associates Degree and 2 to 4 years of related experience or a High School Diploma/GED, with some college and or technical training plus 4 to 6 years of related experience to the job description listed above.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Security, pass a background check, and drug screen.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, the ability to think critically, and direct ecological risk assessment experience .
  • Precious experience working in an Environmental Analytical Laboratory
  • Proficient with a LIMS
  • Must be able to work on-site at the Ft. Meade, MD Laboratory Monday through Friday. This position does not offer any Hybrids work schedules at this time.

  • Superior attention to detail and the ability to meet stringent deadlines

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $53,035.55 to $79,553.32; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
