Position Description

Serco is an industry leader in developing, integrating, and sustaining complex simulator systems for the US Department of Defense. We are seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to join our engineering teams to perform a variety of tasks leading to the successful integration, test, deployment, and sustainment of complex modeling & simulation (M&S) systems, enabling a worldwide distributed mission training capability. This Software Engineer position is in support of the Federation Integration and Testing program for the United States Air Force (USAF) Combat Air Force (CAF) Distributed Mission Operations Network (DMON) program. 

 

The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in software development, a proactive mindset, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.

 

In this role, you will:

 

  • Design, modify, develop, write, and implement software programming applications
  • Support and/or install software applications and operating systems
  • Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing, and certification of software
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins to ensure high-quality code delivery and automated testing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies and ceremonies
  • Utilize Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence) for project tracking and documentation
  • May lead and direct the work of others; reports directly to a project lead or manager

Qualifications

To be succesful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 2 years of related experience, or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 0 years of related experience
  • U.S. Citizenship and have an active Secret security clearance
  • Proficiency in C++ development using Visual Studio
  • Familiarity with Git for version control
  • Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (K8s)
  • Experience with Keycloak for identity and access management, including user federation and role-based access control
  • Proficiency with Jenkins for CI/CD pipeline development and automation
  • Experience on DoD programs and interaction with government stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude toward continuous improvement
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks effectively
  • Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time
