Position Description

If you love high profile and challenging projects supporting the US Navy, this major Navy acquisition program public affairs position may be for you! This is a hybrid position at the Washington Navy Yard with on site attendance required up to 3 times per week for meetings/engagements/team interaction. Exceptions will be considered for candidates with exceptional NAVSEA programmatic experience.

 

You will be part of a small team that works closely with the customer and other Serco teams to deliver quality major acquisition program related messaging and congressional coordination. Matt Weber leads this team with several years’ experience as the manager and is a Navy career veteran.  The team has been recognized by the Navy and the industry for their outstanding contributions to the contract and program.

 

You would serve as a senior public affairs liaison for the DDG Modernization 2.0 Major Program Office in NAVSEA. You will assist the Major Program Manager (MPM) and Deputy PM by providing dedicated expertise in routing, organizing, and coordinating responses to congressional and media action items, resulting in more complete, timely, and consistent messaging to important stakeholders.

 

As a Senior Public Affairs Liaison, you will:

  • Work with the NAVSEA PMS 451 program integration team to provide communications strategy, develop supporting documentation and program messaging on products, produce white papers and briefings, and to answer requests for information.
  • Track and report on program equities in Congressional and other oversight entity engagements including ASN (RDA), GAO, and others.
  • Track and report status of assigned actions and tasks to the DPM.
  • Demonstrate Technical Writing capabilities to include development of key program messaging and communications plans, talking points, briefing material or other documents.
  • Develop and maintain a library of relevant material and historical program information to support communications strategies.
  • Show an independent, self-motivated and critical thinking capacity to complete reports/tasks in a timely manner without dedicated government oversight.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve task objectives.
  • Develop / Maintain / Support SharePoint resources for related tasking.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • An Active U.S. Government DoD Issued Secret Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree (public affairs preferred) and 8 plus years of relevant experience.
  • Experience working with acquisition programs in the Navy or Department of Defense.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, specifically MS SharePoint, Word, Excell and PowerPoint.
  • Availability to travel 10%

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary for this role is $103,369.11 to $167,973.45 however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
