Position Description

Serco is seeking Senior Leader Education (SLE) Specialist to join our team in Suffolk, Virginia, supporting the Joint Staff J7, Joint Training, Deployable Training and Lessons Division (DTLD). The SLE Staff member is one of three personnel that supports the Senior Leader Education Program Coordinator in all aspects of the planning and execution of the Joint Operations Module (JOM) of the Pinnacle, Capstone, and Keystone programs. Each event requires significant advanced planning and attention to detail to meet the standards and expectations of senior leaders.

 

This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain/transfer an active DoD Secret security clearance.

 

The Pinnacle JOM is hosted by a four-star Combatant Commander and led by Senior Fellows who are retired three- and four-star flag and general officers and retired Secretary-level Federal agency leaders. The PINNACLE JOM is attended by approximately fifteen two- and three-star flag and general officers. The Capstone JOM is hosted by the Joint Staff J7, Deputy Director for Joint Training and Exercises and led by Senior Fellows who are retired two-, three-, and four-star flag and general officers and retired Secretary-level Federal agency leaders.  The CAPSTONE JOM is attended by 50 or more one-star flag and general fellows. The Keystone JOM is hosted by the Joint Staff J7, Deputy Director for Joint Training and Exercises and led by Senior Fellows who are retired two-, three-, and four-star flag and general officers, retired Secretary-level Federal leaders, and retired or sitting Combatant Command Senior Enlisted Leaders. The KEYSTONE module is attended by 50 or more Command Senior Enlisted Leaders.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Plan, prepare for, execution of, and participate in JOM events and SLE mid-year reviews and post event curriculum adjustments, including development and orchestration of schedules and agendas for ramp-ups, rehearsals, and practice sessions to capture and integrate changes to presentations.
  • Coordinate our facilities and equipment to ensure availability and reservation.
  • Provide support to senior fellows and fellows before, during, and after each event directly.
  • Coordinate the creation of and develop a plan for the maintenance of rosters: attendance rosters, contact information rosters, passport data rosters, reference library, training requirement, and completion rosters.
  • Plan, participate in, and orchestrate subordinate positions in the conduct of confirmation briefs, ramp-ups, rehearsals, practice sessions, after action reviews, and post-event analysis efforts.
  • Research, develop, design, compile, produce, format, summarize and serve as the reviewer for delegated tasks regarding multimedia materials for academic presentations that will serve as training materials and references for JOM senior fellows, fellows, and other participants. Such materials will include graphics, seating charts, wall charts, and development of small group breakout assignments in classified and unclassified formats. Possess and support the development of staff to ensure the requisite computer software skills for product development and review, particularly regarding Microsoft Suite and Adobe tools.
  • Coordinate across Joint Staff J-7 and with external entities for requisite logistical support. Logistical support efforts may include coordination for equipment repair and replacement, climate control, venue set-up, ordering of equipment and supplies, reserved parking, compound and facility access, event manning requirements, room reservations and preparation, audiovisual support, security, and facility arrangements.
  • Maintain a process for internal quality assurance of an Information Management (IM) database of for JOM activities and academic seminars, which includes the maintenance of portals and websites, and the archiving of information and trend analysis to ascertain changes and rationale in evolution of JOMs.
  • Capture, process, and produce guides, executive summaries, and academic summaries, which includes multimedia recordings, for participants and senior leaders.
  • Analyze academic participant surveys and comments for feedback to develop statistics and executive summaries.
  • Collect, process, and transmit (i.e., mail, digital, or other means) all training materials to NDU or the participant.
  • Support the customer in coordinating Highly Qualified Expert – Senior Mentors (HQE-SM) usage for the DTLD: This could include onboarding actions, communicating training requirements, projecting yearly participation, coordinate HQE-SM visit support, identifying event participation for payment purposes, maintain an HQE-SM program reference library with the policy, guidance, instructions, guides and directives applicable to the program.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A U.S. citizenship
  • To possess an active Secret Clearance.
  • To possess or be able to obtain a Valid U.S. Passport
  • A High-school diploma is required. 
  • A minimum of 5 years military, civilian, contractor experience serving in a joint command or organization
  • Computer software skills for conducting research, developing, designing, and formatting presentations (e.g. Microsoft Power Point, Word, and Excel spreadsheets.)
  • Willingness and ability to travel in CONUS in support of the program (10% availibility) 

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Intimate knowledge and experience with the Joint Staff J7 organization and processes and procedures executed by the Joint Staff J7 Deputy Director Joint Training (DD JT)
  • Knowledgeable in the Joint Event Life Cycle, and joint training enabling capabilities offered by the Joint Staff J7 Suffolk
  • Working knowledge of the Senior Leader Education program and the Joint Operations Modules
  • Joint Staff J7 Exercise/Event Experience
  • Experience working in a Joint Exercise Control Group
  • Working knowledge / experience in contractor hours and deliverables tracking and reporting.
