Position Description

Serco Inc. is seeking a Full-Time, Supply and Logistics Manager onsite NSWC PCD in Panama City, FL to oversee the daily operations of the SEAL Delivery Vehicle supply and material handling shop. This individual will lead a small team, ensuring the efficient, accurate, and safe flow of materials – from receiving and storage to internal distribution and kitting – to support production and operational needs, all while adhering to rigorous quality standards, particularly NAVSEA Note 5000, and ensuring precise data integrity within systems like ERP and CM Pro. The Manager will be a key player in maintaining inventory accuracy, optimizing shop organization, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety.

Serco’s Maritime Engineering, Technology and Sustainment (METS) business unit employs a team of Autonomous Maritime Systems (AMS) experts based out of Panama City, FL. Our mission is to provide our nation’s sailors with access to cutting edge technology by providing research and development (R&D), prototype integration, and testing and evaluation (T&E) services in maritime environments. We welcome talent with skillsets in the platforms we specialize in to provide unique service offerings to our warfighters as they develop, test, and implement autonomous systems to meet critical mission objectives.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, mentor, train, and guide a team of Material Handlers/Warehouse Associates.
  • Oversee all aspects of material receiving, inspection, put-away, and storage, ensuring proper documentation and system entries.  Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely completion of work orders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for team members regarding operational questions and support. Foster a positive, productive, and safety-conscious work environment. Conduct basic performance feedback and escalating issues to management as needed.
  • Implement and enforce material handling, storage, and preservation requirements in strict adherence to NAVSEA Note 5000 quality standards and other applicable contractual or regulatory specifications.
  • Ensure all material inventory logging, transactions, and kitting processes are accurately and consistently recorded in the CM Pro database and other relevant systems.
  • Manage inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, physical inventories, and discrepancy resolution. Ensure proper labeling, shelving, and organization of all materials using designated WMS/ERP systems.
  • Coordinate internal material flow, kitting, and delivery to various production lines, workstations, or departments as required. Implement and maintain FIFO (First-In, First-Out) or other inventory rotation methodologies. Identify and report slow-moving, obsolete, or damaged inventory.
  • Operate various material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, order pickers, reach trucks) safely and efficiently, and ensure proper pre-shift inspections. Oversee the loading and unloading of items, ensuring cargo is secured and handled correctly.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the supply and material handling functions to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with Production, Procurement, Quality, and other departments to ensure seamless material flow and communication.
  • Assist in the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for shop activities, ensuring alignment with quality requirements.
  • Contribute to problem-solving and root cause analysis for material-related issues.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have

  • Bachelor's degree and 8 years’ experience in a warehouse, logistics, or material handling environment.
  • At least 2 years of proven lead or supervisory experience.
  • Valid Forklift Operator Certification required
  • Proficient in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and/or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.).
  • Experience with databases for inventory logging, traceability, and material management.
