Position Description

Serco is seeking a Military Trainer – Exercise Support Planner to join our growing team of diverse professionals at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  The selected candidate will join our Mission Command Training Program (MCTP), which trains Army Corps, Divisions, and Brigades in the Army Mission Command Systems and Operations Process.  The Exercise Support Planner leverages specialized expertise in planning and executing some or all phases of military training exercises, including doctrinal development, scenario development, and after-action review (AAR) and analysis.

 

This position is contingent upon your ability to transfer/maintain your Active Secret clearance.

 

In this role, you will: 

  • Acts as primary Exercise Support Division (ESD) Exercise Support Planner Contractor Point of Contact (CONPOC) and provides guidance to the Principal Military Exercise Planner
  • Supports U.S. Army and Army Civilians in planning, coordination, and execution of Warfighter Exercises focused on Corps and Division echelons
  •  Ensures timely writing, publishing, and delivery of Exercise Life Cycle Event contract deliverables (CDRL).
  • Understands and can provide guidance to the Exercise Support Manning and Equipment Document (ESMED) Manager
  • Ensures the initial manning requirements for the initial Exercise Planning Travel Management System (EPTMS) are met
  • Maintain habitual relationship with other Operations Groups Planners, Analysts, and POCs
  • Serves as the Headquarters Support Team (HST) lead in Simulation Control Plan (SCP) and coordinates with the SCP Lead in the development of CDRLs
  • Work with other Divisions within HST to develop room builds and determine equipment and personnel needs for each exercise

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • One of the following:
    • High school diploma/GED with a minimum of 10 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 6 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
    • Master’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of professional and/or military leadership experience
  • An active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
  • The ability to work on-site at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas 5 days a aweek.
  • The ability to travel as needed (up to 25% of the time)
  • The ability to deploy to various countries, as required, in support of U.S. military operations.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite of software (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access)
  • The ability to write at a college level, with experience in military writing style.

Additional desired experience and skills: 

  • U. S. Army Command and General Staff Officer Course, or Military Education Level 4 (MEL 4) equivalent Intermediate Level Education (ILE)
  • Experience in an Operational Staff
