Position Description

Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for their multiple contracts maintaining their defense work on aircraft carriers. Our team upgrades, maintains and manages the fabrication welding that runs a variety of Naval systems to ensure the safety of the sailors and to allow them to perform their missions successfully. You will be part of a select team of fabricators and welders that support Serco installation teams to deliver quality systems. The team supports all of the fabrication needs of Serco groups from coast to coast and around the world.


In this role, you will:

  • Layout steel, aluminum and stainless steel heavy and light structure, frames, skids, piping, and other projects for fabrication and welding.
  • Fabricate all shop projects maintaining high quality, on time delivery, safety and in accordance with Government Drawings.
  • Produce X-ray Quality Welds for Aluminum, Stainless and Carbon Steel structure and pipe.
  • Weld aluminum, steel and stainless steel heavy and light structure, frames, skids, piping, sheet metal and other projects for fabrication.
  • Must be able to maintain high quality work in a safe manner. Understand and adhere to the defined scope of work.
  • Timely and effectively communicate and/or resolve problems in an organized and detailed manner.
  • Be productive, efficient, and work safely implementing common sense practices sound judgment, and proactive measures.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A High School Diploma/GED  
  • Minimum 5 years of Hands-On experience in the layout, fitting, and welding of structural steel, pipe, plate, and sheet metal
  • Expert level of knowledge in military specification welding methods, procedures and quality control
  • Working knowledge of all tools and equipment i.e. overhead cranes, saws, iron workers, shears, hydraulic breaks, welding equipment
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with managers, field personnel customers, and other employees

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • ASNT Level II Visual Weld Inspector certification
  • Operational skills utilizing CNC operated equipment
