Join the Serco team of highly skilled peers as a Technician Crewmember providing at-sea operations and maintenance support including operational troubleshooting and repair of the mission equipment for the Surveillance Towed Array Sensor System (SURTASS) on the Tactical Auxiliary General Ocean Surveillance (T-AGOS) class ships.

 

This position is for a Full-Time crewmember of the operations and maintenance (O&M) team and reports to a SURTASS Technical Advisor.

 

In this role you will:

  • Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair SURTASS mission equipment.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all Electro-Mechanical mission equipment in accordance with the PMS and other reference documents.
  • Assist and participate in towed array evolutions (deploy and retrieve) and mission system operations.
  • Qualify in basic SURTASS Operation Center and array operations positions.
  • Serve as an O&M team crewmember and part of a rotating team schedule which includes at-sea time, time off, and collateral shore-side duties including training, obtaining, and maintaining qualifications and certifications, and program shore-side support.
  • Other duties may be assigned including, but not limited to COMSEC, logistics, safety, training, maintenance, and material management (3M) collateral duties.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • An Active or Current DOD Security Clearance: at a minimum of a DoD Secret Level Security Clearance which requires US Citizenship and have the ability to be upgraded to a Top Secret/ with SCI eligibly.
  • A valid driver’s license and US passport with more than a 3-year expiration date
  • BS degree and 3 years experience, an AS degree and 5 years or a High School/GED, Military C School (electronics), or Trade School, with 7 years may be substituted for a BS degree; in lieu of a degree.
  • The ability to pass a Mariner's Physical per COMSCINST 6000.l.c and maintain medical fitness and to comply with security and quality processes and procedures in the performance of duties.
  • The ability to travel up to 50% of the time and have the ability to be underway for six months at a time.
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Able to obtain an access card via the Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) system. Information about DBIDS can be found at https://dbids-global.dmdc.mil/enroll#!/ or be able to obtain a DBIDS Card or Common Access Card (CAC) in accordance with base security requirements and for the need of physical access to the installation and logical access to government owned computer systems.

 

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Security+ (or equivalent) certification(s), related to 8140/8570 IT DoD baseline certification requirement.
  • Independent initiative-taker experience in ship systems installations, upgrades, and repair activities. Experienced in supporting Mission Readiness Availabilities/ Mission Readiness Reviews.
  • Previous SURTASS experience includes experience in maintenance, and providing troubleshooting and repair of communications, navigation, and sonar surveillance systems.
  • Knowledge of and experience with multiple types of array systems including active and passive
  • Navy operations, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance experience with secure networks, and sonar, navigation, and communications systems.
  • Previous COMSEC account management experience

Prior Formal Navy Training/Education/Schooling for FSTs missions:

 

  • RDC C-School
  • IT C-School
  • SURTASS FST School

Prior Experience as a Field Technician, Field Engineer, Deployment Technician, Sonar Technician , Sonar Tech, Sonar Operator, Underwater Acoustics Technician, Acoustic Sensor Technician  , Acoustics Specialist, Array Handling Technician, Towed Array Operator, Field Technician, Field Engineer, Deployment Technician, test technician, Crew Member Technician, Crew Tech, Marine Systems Technician, Undersea Systems Technician, Subsea Technician, Ocean Systems Technician, Naval Acoustic Technician, ASW Technician, Acoustic Engineer, Sensor Technician, Marine Acoustic Operator, Acoustic Array Operator, Electro-Mechanical Technician, Instrumentation Technician, Marine Technician, Hydroacoustic Technician, Underwater Systems Technician,

Network Systems Electrician, Network Systems Administrator, Network Systems Engineer with direct experience in C4I ship systems, electronics, and networks!

In compliance with state and local laws regarding pay transparency, the salary range for this role is $80,000 to $190,000.00; however, Serco considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills.
